What are the positions that technical people may be interested in at Microsoft? George Walters, who has 13 years of experience at Microsoft across three different roles spanning support, technical sales, and strategy, will explain how Microsoft is structured, what roles are available, and how he embraced his journey. We will also discuss the Microsoft of today, including topics like “Learn it all” instead of “Know it all”, as well as what Diversity, Inclusion, and Retention mean at Microsoft. Bio: George Walters has a long history in the data platform world. Currently he is a Partner Technical Strategist, helping Microsoft partners transform their business to embrace the cloud and embrace new business models. He is focused on the healthcare and life sciences industry. George loves mentoring people, and loves helping connect at user groups, SQL Saturdays, and other events. His wife and two teen children are why he works.

A seasoned Microsoft SQL and Azure expert, with over 20 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase, Oracle, and other relational databases. Specialties: Partner strategy, PreSales Engineering, Cloud Architecture, Enterprise Scalability, SQL Server performance, Business Intelligence, High Availability, Scale. I volunteer and present relevant topics at SQL Saturday and internal Microsoft events
